Sonic Certifies NewWaves MultiDVD System for
Short Run DVD Duplication
Gaithersburg, Maryland (July 7, 2000) NewWave
Technologies announced today that Sonic Solutions, the leader in DVD authoring tools,
(NASDAQ: SNIC) has certified their MultiDVD system. NewWaves MultiDVD system
provides Sonic customers a time saving and cost effective option for in house, short run
DVD duplicating.
NewWaves MultiDVD system combines the Ultera MultiMaster patented array
controller technology and the latest generation of DVD-R drives from Pioneer New Media
Technologies. Ulteras DVD-R controller synchronizes the duplication process
across multiple drives. Their controller appears as a single SCSI device to a Sonic DVD
Authoring station or software application. Up to 12 Pioneer DVD-R drives then can be
connected, each operating at maximum data rates, enabling users to create 12 DVD discs in
the time it takes to create a single DVD disc. These discs are
all true masters, not copies of copies providing
high quality DVD duplication.
"NewWaves MultiDVD is a cost-effective way of cutting the time required for
short-run DVD-R duplication direct from Sonic DVD authoring systems," said
Giles Baker, DVD Product Marketing Manager for Sonic Solutions. "Many Sonic users
have a single Pioneer DVD-R drive. Adding NewWaves solution produces a scalable
system, allowing them to add more drives as their duplication needs increase."
The Sonic user no longer needs to spend the time and incur the cost to out source their
short run DVD duplication needs", according to John
Jagelsky, Vice President,
Business Development at NewWave Technologies, Ulteras exclusive U.S. DVD controller
distributor. "Their one time investment in our MultiDVD system is returned quickly
after several duplication projects, plus it is quite the time saver".
SONIC Certifies NewWave
MultiDVD System
"NewWaves system is the
answer for those duplication jobs that are on deadlines or not large enough to out source,
said Fred Bedard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ultera. "NewWave
Technologies has been instrumental in the success of our MultiMaster controller forming an
alliance with Sonic Solutions, a market leader. Now Sonic, as well as Avid and Media 100
users have a faster and more cost effective method to expand their use of DVD
authoring".
